How to point a domain you own to your FlameSpace.
Your FlameSpace can be served from any domain you control — not just
yourhandle.flamespace.fyi. TLS is automatic.
DNS must resolve here before you can link. The server verifies your A record points to FlameSpace before accepting a domain registration — this prevents others from squatting your domain.
Order: DNS record first → verify with dig → then link from the update page.
At your registrar or DNS provider, add an A record pointing your domain to the FlameSpace server:
| Type | Host / Name | Value | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | @ (or bare domain) |
64.91.241.232 | 300 |
A records are supported at the apex (example.com) by all registrars.
CNAME records at the apex are non-standard and may not work — use A.
To serve from a subdomain instead (e.g. space.example.com), add a CNAME:
| Type | Host / Name | Value | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
| CNAME | space |
flamespace.fyi | 300 |
Propagation takes anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on your registrar and your previous TTL. You can verify by running:
dig A yourdomain.com +short
When it returns 64.91.241.232, you're ready for Step 3.
Go to Update, enter your handle and passphrase, paste your domain into the Custom Domain field, and click Link domain.
The TLS certificate is issued automatically on the first request — usually within a minute.
To remove a custom domain, return to Update, enter your
handle and passphrase, and click Remove next to your domain.
Your handle.flamespace.fyi address is unaffected.
Custom domains are stored only in your space's metadata on the server. No analytics, no third-party DNS queries, no log of which domains are registered — the same zero-telemetry policy as everything else on FlameSpace.
